EMPOWER Online Education
This October, experts from the Environmental Instruments Division at our Tokyo HQ hosted three joint webinars with Kogakuin University in Japan.
Over 40 students from the University's Solar Team and the Junior and Senior High School Automotive Department attended each session, covering weather, heat, solar cell development, and their relation to energy generation and solar car technology.
Session 1: The Relationship Between Weather & Heat
In the first session, Assistant Manager of our Environment & Wind Energy group, Takashi Uchibori covered the basic principles of weather and environmental sensing used around the world, and the future of clean energy.
Session 2: Solar Cells: A Tale of Past & Present
Mitsuhiro Minoda, manager of our Environmental Instruments Division taught students about the origin of solar cells and walked them through the journey to the present day, and beyond to the future with many examples and photographs.
Session 3: Solar Cars & Weather Sensing
Takase Osamu, Manager of our PV Group, delivered the final class in the EMPOWER Online Future Education Programme on Solar Cars & Weather Sensing. The webinar consisted of several interactive live quizzes for students to engage & test their knowledge.
EKO | EMPOWER
EMPOWER is a global programme that aims to support the next generation of scientists, meteorologists, students, and engineers to achieve their goals, advance their ideas, and build a better, more sustainable, future.
Through technical partnerships, support, and the provision of industry-leading environmental sensors, EKO Instruments will contribute to activities and organisations that offer young people learning opportunities and practical experience in engineering, clean energy, and atmospheric sciences, starting with six university-based solar car racing teams.
