Overview

The M-Box converts the output voltage of a solar radiation sensor, PT-100 or 10kΩ NTC temperature sensor into a MODBUS 485 RTU output using the MC-20 Signal Converter. The M-Box can be used with all EKO passive irradiance and temperature sensors and any other sensor with an mV output. With MODBUS, up to 100 sensors and converter units can be addressed and connected in parallel.

EKO’s universal 4-20mA and Modbus RS-485 RTU converters give complete flexibility and the option to combine different types of sensors within a multi-sensor network. Solar radiation and temperature sensors can be easily integrated, preserving or improving sensor accuracy while complying with industry output standards.

The converter models are housed inside an IP65 aluminium case with universal cable glands and robust input/output screw terminals which can easily connect to any cable and measurement system at the installation site. With A-Box-T Signal Converter, the sensor cable can also be extended over a long distance without any signal loss or potential electromagnetic interference.

In addition, the optional USB controller and EKO Sense software provide access to the converter settings and advanced sensor parameters such as temperature dependency correction and non-linearity correction for adjustment and verification.

Description

MC-20 Signal Converter

The MC-20 digital signal conditioner converts the voltage output of solar radiation sensors, PT-100 and 10kΩ NTC temperature sensors into a MODBUS 485 RTU output. The converter can be used with all passive EKO radiometers or any other mV sensor that needs to be connected to a data logger or inverter with a MODBUS 485 RTU input channel. With MODBUS, up to 100 different sensors and converter units can be addressed and connected in parallel.

With the MC-20, the sensor cable can easily be extended over long distances without any signal loss or potential electromagnetic interference in noisy industrial environments. Robust input/output screw terminals can also be easily connected to the signal cable leading to any on-site measurement systems. Users can also quickly check and change their converter settings with the optional USB controller and EKO Sense software.
